Stetson Bourbon Advertisement

Animation

This is an animated/rendered video advertisement for the brand Stetson. Although Stetson is known primarily as the creator of the original/classic cowboy hat, they are also active in another industry: Bourbon.

The animation details three of the best ways to enjoy the high-end Stetson Bourbon: straight, over ice, and mixed. This project was scripted, animated, and rendered within Blender alongside minimal work within Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.

Reference Photos

Over seventy photographs were taken of a genuine Stetson Bourbon bottle provided by Hunger-N-Thirst in Lancaster, PA. From these reference photos, a near-perfect digital replica was made within Blender.

Reconstructed Bottle Labels

In order for the animation to be as true-to-life as possible, it was crucial for the label to match the original perfectly. To do this, a composite was created from the dozen of photographs of the bottle. Once this was completed, a simple rough paper texture was overlaid to best match the finish of the original label.

The liquid that can be seen pouring into the glass (bottom right) is from the “Over Ice” section of the animation.
